Journeyman Electrician Requirements and Qualifications

  • Must be state licensed journeyman electrician.
  • Valid driver’s license required and insurable – no more than 1 violation.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Solid working knowledge of commercial and residential electrical systems.
  • Extensive experience in both commercial and residential work is a plus.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Take great pride in your work.
  • Reliable and punctual with a positive attitude.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Good communication skills, able to keep accurate records.

Journeyman Electrician Duties and Responsibilities

  • Arrive at service calls on time.
  • Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Provide estimates for cost and timeline prior to beginning work.
  • Acquire signature of client on service agreement prior to beginning work.
  • Conduct all work to the very best of your ability, as if it were your own home/business.
  • Notify client immediately if plan needs to be adjusted due to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Perform routine maintenance on various systems as requested.
  • Follow specifications on blueprints/diagrams/technical drawings for installations.
  • Conduct all repairs and installations according to code.
  • Utilize all safety equipment and follow all safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain a neat and organized work environment.
  • Maintain a stock of common materials in your service vehicle.
  • See that all tools and equipment are functioning properly at the beginning of shift.
  • Obtain payment and be sure customer is satisfied before departing.
  • Report any issues to management.
